General Policies, Code of Conduct & Ethics

At Hands of an Angel Massage, I am committed to providing a safe, respectful, and professional environment for every client. The following guidelines outline the standards, expectations, and mutual responsibilities that ensure a positive, therapeutic experience.

Massage Therapy Disclaimer

Massage therapy is a professional, non-invasive practice focused on the manipulation of soft tissues to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support overall well-being. While massage can help manage discomfort and encourage healing, it is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions.

Massage therapists do not perform medical evaluations or provide services outside their licensed scope of practice. Clients should consult a licensed healthcare provider for any concerns requiring medical attention.

Client Rights

Clients have the right to:

  • Receive a massage in a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.

  • Be treated with dignity, respect, and professionalism at all times.

  • Request adjustments or end a session at any time for any reason.

  • Access information about the therapist’s training, licensure, and certifications.

  • Have personal and health information kept confidential, except as required by law or for public safety.

Client Responsibilities

Clients are expected to:

  • Communicate preferences, expectations, and concerns clearly.

  • Provide accurate health and personal information.

  • Arrive on time and manage appointments responsibly.

  • Treat the therapist with courtesy and respect.

  • Follow all established clinic policies and procedures.

  • Reschedule if feeling unwell to protect both client and therapist.

Note: Receiving a massage while ill can worsen symptoms and increase the risk of contagion.

Therapist Rights

To maintain a safe and professional practice, I reserve the right to:

  • Decline or modify services if safety concerns or contraindications are present.

  • Refuse to treat specific areas of the body with justifiable cause.

  • Refer clients to medical professionals when massage is not appropriate.

  • Require full payment prior to providing service.

  • Decline gifts intended to influence care or referrals.

  • Refuse rescheduling due to no-shows, repeated late arrivals, or chronic late cancellations.

  • Adjust service hours or prices at any time without prior notice.

  • Cancel appointments with reasonable notice due to emergencies, illness, or contagion concerns.

  • Reduce, refuse, or reschedule service for clients arriving more than 15 minutes late.

  • End a session immediately, without refund, if inappropriate, sexual, or aggressive behavior occurs.

  • Permanently refuse service to any client whose actions compromise safety or violate state laws governing massage therapy.

Professional Standards & Ethics

As a licensed massage therapist, I commit to:

  • “Do No Harm” is the foundation of my practice. Conduct business with honesty, integrity, and professionalism.

  • Provide services only within my qualifications and expertise.

  • Offer therapy only when there is a reasonable benefit for the client.

  • Represent my training, certifications, and credentials truthfully.

  • Pursue continuing education for professional growth. Treat all clients without discrimination. Honor client boundaries, beliefs, and emotional expression.

  • Ensure comfort and safety through appropriate techniques and professional draping at all times.

Confidentiality

  • All personal and health information is kept strictly confidential and will not be shared without written consent, except as required by law or to prevent imminent harm.

  • Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.

  • Late cancellations or no-shows may result in a fee or loss of any promotional discount.

  • Late arrivals may result in reduced service time, rescheduling, or cancellation.

  • Discounts and promotions are non-transferable and apply only to the scheduled client and service.

  • Offers may be modified or discontinued at any time without prior notice.

  • Missed appointments may result in forfeiture of a discount or promotional offer.
